That actually happened to me a few years ago during the holidays. I saw a lady drop an item out of her shopping bag in the parking lot and grabbed it before it got run over and went to hand it to her, saying, Excuse me, you dropped this back there. She screamed at me at the top of her lungs and told me to get away or she'll call the cops. I handed her the package and she never said thank you or apologized. Everyone within earshot looked at me as if I was a creep. Since that was not the first time I've experienced a similar reaction in a similar circumstance and with the threat of having the cops called on me, I will never help or assist a woman that I don't know ever again. The legal and financial risks are just too great.
