I love the first Metroid. I remember when it came out and me and my friends played the hell out of it and were so blown away by it. Sure, it's not the masterpiece that Super Metroid is, but I'm so tired of people on youtube always saying that it's so dated, and that you should definitely not play it today, and just play Zero Mission instead. I was securely attached as a baby and toddler. I still developed chronic depression starting at the age of 14. Because of the depression, my attachment style changed to pre-occupied (anxious). Finally, am working with a therapist enough to resolve issues that really didnt occur until I had depression and am finally moving back to a secure attachment style. So if parents think that as soon as a kid moves out of the toddler stage and are securely attached, it doesn't mean they are securely attached for life. Growing up, I was put under a LOT of pressure to succeed academically and was given the message that I cannot be loved unless I perform well. I was also told my parents that I was ugly, fat and not smart in my pre-teen year. I also internalized the message that I was not capable of being independent, and basically helpless. So I developed a pre-occupied anxious style and kept going to others for reassurance that I was enough as a human being and was very distraught without others support and assistance because I truly felt I could not care for myself. Anyways, I am getting closer to middle age now and am finally learning to internalize self-love and can go back to having normal, secure attachment style. I've actually always had great boundaries until I developed chronic depression and now finding my natural abilities to have appropriate boundaries come back to me after I learned to love myself.
