What I agree with Re zero is that yes Subaru's story is one of self righteous bullshit where it uses the Isekai world as a new start to be a hero but fails absolutely miserably, no powers no charisma just a nobody who wants to be a hero and yet he has the only thing he needs, a way to get back up. The other thing I can half agree with is the deaths of Re Zero, where it is showcased as a shock value at times, I don't think it uses the reset mechanic all that well IMO, my favorite loop is where he can't reset to save rem cause his checkpoint was past her fight with gluttony but what I like about it is how it's used when other characters are in the scene and we get to see him failing to have friends during the mansion arc we see how he absolutely fails as a hero not being able to save anyone in that loop and get metaphorically and literally blasted by cold reality, and what i love about it is that he is always forced to get back up cause he is mostly in situations where it's do or die and seeing this pathetic kid doing his best to get past obstacles fails and still move is what i really live about re zero. What I don't agree on is that it's a waifu show, subaru's only trait is his self rightousness instead of a prevailing flaw in his character and that it doesn't allow the audience to give a shit. I understand what you mean about you complaints with the witches but i think that it primarily came down to lack of screentime and understanding of them. But a lot of characters still have debt aside from there quirks and sometimes uses those quirks to make something interesting even if it is simple and unglace worthy why does Ross keep speaking like his high as a kite and why Echidna seems to have emotions cause it's easy to manipulate someone who thinks thats how you act. And lastly the mystery if Re zero is a slow burn like Satella and subarus summoning is late game reveals but throughout that it uses some reveals like why does Rem hate subaru in the first loops cause her village was atachid and subaru seems to have the same scent as the cultist who atachid her village which also sets up why does subaru have the sam secent as them which so on and so forth.
