People (including and especially defense attorneys (actual and Monday morning ones) and sadly, even often LEOs, prosecutors and judges) try to apply (allegedly) logical standards to how victims should have acted before, during and/or after the crime, when: 1.1. countless convictions have PROVEN that those standards often if not usually DO NOT and DID NOT have to apply, 1.2. noone knows for sure how someone else or even themselves would act in these obviously highly unusual and highly stressful situations, and 1.3. perps do not need to physically or even verbally (explicitly or even implicitly) threaten for there to be enough of a perceived threat to cause a victim to act outside of these logical standards, especially when theses perps (as they often do) suddenly and drastically change from what is often if not usually normal or even extra normal behavior to that of being a perp, it should be understandable how the victim can fear that MUCH worst could be possible if they didn't acquiesce to the perps demands or even mere suggestions, again, even without physical or even verbal (explicit or even implicit) threats (i.e. if the perp(s) is so malicious and/or crazy, that their behavior can change so drastically, there's no telling, how THEY might snap at some totally unexpected time and lead to MUCH worst consequences than acquiescing to the perps already crazy, illegal demands or even mere suggestions).

Whenever the conversation of preferences occurs, I start throwing around my Econ degree (which is essentially how people operate under likes and preferences). Preferences has the inherent understanding that you like one thing, but in the event where it is not attainable or available, there is a substitute that you would choose that would fulfill the same want or need the original choice would. If someone says that it is their “preference” to be with a dark/light skinned man (or any other physical representation) but doesn’t consider the opposite or other types and chooses their “preference” EXCLUSIVELY… then that is not a preference. There is no substitute that you are considering. You aren’t even considering these other representations as an option to even choose from to even reach the requirement for it to be considered a preference.
