I had just done my annual Tinder search and went on a date to Dave & Busters with this cop around my age (25 at the time). The date didn’t start out great. One of the stories he was talking about was a car accident, and it reminded me of the circumstances of a close friend of mine who died in a car accident by being thrown from the car, so I brought it up, just talking about how quick and tragically things can happen. Then, the first thing out of this guy’s mouth was “she probably wasn’t wearing a seatbelt”. I was just shocked at his insensitivity. At 19 years old she was not even 5 feet tall, 85 pounds soaking wet, and cars and seatbelts are not built for women much less women of her size. She had seatbelt burns. She was wearing one.
