There needs to be laws in place to also protect the caregivers, that get falsely accused of abuse. There needs to be large fines like $15k and 10 years in prison for those that make false reports to APS. The genuine caregivers are doing the very best they can to take care of their elderly parent or vulnerable family member. False reporting can have serious detriment to the caregiver, that genuinely cares for the person they are caring for. Making false reports to APS can ruin the lives of innocent caregivers. The stress, the mental and physical health of a caregiver is affected. They can be traumatized from the false reporting Sometimes caregivers have to seek therapy/counseling for this.
