Wow the new pokemon game looks great

I recently worked in a centre for young people at risk of homelessness. The staff there were obsessed with perpetuating the idea that the clients (age 16-25) could be any gender they wanted, in fact actively encouraged it. The walls were covered in pro LGBTQ propaganda, everything always seemed to come back to sexuality and gender with them. All the staff had blue hair or some other obvious trait that identified them as militantly left wing. They spent far more time talking about sex and gender than actually focusing on homelessness and the reasons behind it. It got to the point where clients who were not LGBTQ were claiming that they were just to fit in and be able to access services. One lad dyed his hair pink and started wearing feminine clothing. I asked him about it one day and he said “oh no im not trans or gay, I just feel i cant be masculine here or they judge me, please dont tell the other staff”. We had another lad who, during breakfast one day, said that he did not agree with abortion and was pro life. The staff banned him and said he couldnt come back because his views were “dangerous”. This kid had red raw feet from walking the streets, lived in a tent and was cold lonely and hungry but they shut him out because he didnt conform to their ideals. Once they realised i was not left wing, their attitudes towards me and my work changed completely. I left shortly afterwards.

I'm currently going through a massive burnout (I've had smaller ones before, but this time it's particularly debilitating) and it made me realise there's something really really wrong with my mental health and it made me look into high masking autism and everything just clicked for me and I've realised, especially from watching your videos and relating so hard to practically everything, that I'm most likely autistic. I've decided to get my assessment as I feel like my career and everything I've worked so hard (too hard) for is in jeopardy if I don't get answers as to why my brain seems to work differently from everyone else's and why I feel so constantly OVERWHELMED with everything - it is, of course, because I've been masking all my life and I am now almost 36 and doing a PhD and my brain just switched off one day and I suddenly just... couldn't anymore. I can't keep it up. I'm exhausted. I have meltdowns several times a week and the emotional dysregulation and executive dysfunction are so bad it was terrifying at first until I realised autism explains pretty much ALL of my struggles since childhood. I'm still terrified, but also relieved? Now more terrified of going for the diagnosis and not being believed than I am of actually being autistic, I just want to know what's going on at this point. Anyway sorry for trauma dumping but I just wanted to say that these videos have helped me so much and I'm so grateful to you for putting your stories and insights out there and helping me and others realise that there's nothing wrong with us - we're just wired differently. I think this will be a way for me to finally start accepting myself and stop beating myself up for every little thing, to forgive myself. Thank you 💖
