They do this so that they can properly 'launch', themselves into the adult world and become independent. I wouldn't dream of going in either of my daughter's rooms without asking. For the record, I’m not a mum, I’m a son. DH speaks to his parents about 5 times a week. Jan 3, 2024 · From not charging rent at all to about £400 per month, and from not lifting much of a finger especially in cooking for themselves, to living pretty much independently just under the same roof.

He's her step dad though, so maybe that's a difference, but irrespective, I think everyone deserves to have their privacy respected. I have recently realised my mother is a narcissist.

Surrounded by a solid mass of their own siblings, nephews, nieces, friends - it’s a very populous country and they clearly have their own networks and systems utterly adeptly set up. DH and his sibling, both in their late 30s, have returned home to their parents several times after relationships have failed. At £9 per hour, that's 3 months work before travel etc in the summer holidays.
