Yamato’s Character arc is what kinda made me realize she wasn’t joining the crew. She was a girl for a long time, and as a child, she starts identifying not as a boy, but grown ass man. This was clearly a coping mechanism from her with watching traumatic events, such as a execution as well as the mental, physical, and emotional abuse from her father. Her fulling Oden’s wish is what finally released her from it. Most of the Strawhats have future dreams that lead them away from their island. Yamato’s did not. She inherited Oden’s will of opening the country and protecting it. She stopped “being” him and moved on in a more healthy way.

I love Holly, but to downplay the fact that she was actually in love with him, is a bit much. Like myself and so many others, she doesn't have the fondest memories of her first long-term, serious boyfriend. She called him pet names like, Puffin, and would buy him stuffed penguins when she was on away trips. She got heavily involved with actually working throughout Playboy, behind the scenes, etc. She brought up marriage and children more than once. I think that when she realized he would not give any of that to her, she was very hurt and angry. I'm sure it didn't help once he married someone else not long after their split. She wants people to know who she is without Playboy, but the bottom line is, she would not be known at all if it weren't for Hugh. At the very least, she was able to travel the world in her twenties...something that most only dream of doing. I totally understand being pissy towards an ex, but to me she just appears extremely ungrateful, for the opportunity, and for the life experience in general. If you spend 7 years with someone, you lose the right to put all of the blame on the other.
