I sat through this movie emotionally frozen. Alex looks so much like my ex they could be twins. He was a model and and an actor I met during a fashion shoot I was directing. Of course he chose her and severed all contact with me. From there my life went down hill. I went spiraling into depression, took up drinking, left my day job, and started cruising which I'd never done before and without realizing became a prostitute. I felt if it was so easy for my ex to cast me aside I must be worthless as a human. And so I threw myself at anyone who would have me. This a person who was once considered highly desirable and who was known for rejecting any and all advances made toward him. It came to a point where I was turning tricks every night. Secretly I hoped I would catch HIV and die. When I told my friend that he was beyond shocked. He tried to help me and I shunned him. I had many affairs all of which were short lived because every guy ended up paying me and moving on. When I got raped and beaten up one night, I told my friend the exact thing Alex told Emma in the movie, that I deserved it because I was prostituting myself. My siblings broke all contact with me and then my mother passed away. I tried to hang myself and end my life but survived. Finally I got my shit together and gradually took control of my life. It's been 13 years since my ex left me and almost 8 months since I took up a regular job and started to give meaning to my existence again. So it was surreal to see my ex's face in the movie and to see him living almost the kind of life I had ended up leading. Alex sleeping with his father was a dramatic and shocking ending and it made me realize that life could've been even more cruel to me and that there is always someone out there who gets a worse deal than we do. Thank you for this movie. It's going to be my therapy film henceforth.

When i was in my teens, I used to masturbate up to 4 - 5 times a day.
