This wasn’t an example of misinterpretation of information. This teacher imposed her viewpoints onto a student who did not hold the same thought process. When the student disagreed with her about how they felt about her stating “we’re not going to judge someone who wants to have sex with a 5 year old”, that is about the time I would have stood up and walked out of t classroom. This was an attempt to justify and promote acceptance of pedophilia. Is that what we will teach our minors, our 5 year olds, that when someone, anyone even a family member is attracted to them they shouldn’t be judged but rather accepted. You’re joking me right? It’s one thing to hold your opinions but it’s another to force someone to also hold those beliefs. It speaks to ethnocentrism which is a totally unacceptable trait for an educator to possess. Mr. Moore is correct and he was one of the educators I trusted most during my high school years because he never imposed his viewpoints on us, it was an open forum where things were discussed and debated properly. This educator believes no one was watching, no one would dare disagree with her viewpoints. No I won’t teach my children to use MAPS to describe someone who is mentally inept and has a sexual proclivity for children. I will teach them that if anyone is sick enough to touch them that they will immediately be reported and dealt with. Absolutely ridiculous.
