I used to hear through the rumor vine that we needed to be with someone who is closer to our own age in order to be able to get along with a perspective partner, and older men needed to be with a younger woman especially if he wanted to have children. My first husband and I were 1 year apart in age with him being older. It was bad enough for me that I was not taught certain things from my mother when I was so young and when I reflected upon her statements to me ,” Grow up , get married and have kids.” it was like she was saying ,” You have no value in life unless you get out there right now and find someone to marry you, so you can have kids. And, I want grandchildren.” I never had an opportunity to date but once. I don’t know what my dad said to the young man but after he brought me home from the football game that we had gone to, he had walked me to the door and said,” I won’t be back again. “ and left.
