But why did Elon ease the censorship? Because censorship leads to authoritarianism. When you suppress the free flow of thoughts and ideas to appease fearful people and advertisers, you remove the nuance in order to maximize ad revenue. The best way to maximize interaction, controversy, and ad revenue is to divide public perception into two opposing categories on any given topic. Despite our best efforts, censoring misinformation only caused people to dig in deeper to that misinformation.

30th of March 2022: HEYY a quick thank you to Artistic toad for reminding me to check in! I currently go by he/him and think I'm a bisexual man (I thought I was gay for a few months). I also dated a really sweet guy for about four months this year. he saw me as a proper man, which I'm not really used to. we broke up but are pretty much best friends right now. I'm very grateful for him, he made me realize that being under the trans umbrella does not make anyone less lovable. I believe quarantine kind of forced us to think about our identities no matter our age, and I'm still a teenager going through puberty so I'm aware that my sexualy and gender identity may change in the future. the thing that causes me to struggle right now isn't being trans, but the way people see me. I'm completely comfortable in my identity yet people refuse to understand sometimes. I have a stable friend group at the moment, which is different compared to the last time I checked in. I'm aware this is very long, but I really wanted to give everyone (including my future-self) a situation update. take care of yourselves, and know that whether you're straight+cis or not doesn't change the fact that you're loved, important and appreciated. also a special thank you to anyone who was here with me during my identity crisis 🫶
