The sad reality of the situation is that regardless of intent, the choice to join this industry happens at a very young age. Most pornstars start at 18. I’m in my late 20s, and I’d consider most 18 year olds literal kids. The far reaching consequences that occur as a result of doing porn are not immediately apparent to someone at such an immature age. Creating a family, having kids, forming healthy relationships, and living a stable life- these are concepts that someone at that age almost certainly has no grip over. Even to me, they feel like events that are far off in the horizon- something to start thinking about but nothing that has an immediate impact on my current life. In this regard I do feel sympathy for her. Loneliness is a curse that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. All that being said, this particular girl, has far exceeded simply “dabbling” in the industry. She has completely disregarded the sanctity of her body and self and in return was paid lots and lots of money. That was the compromise- and she ran with it. The fact that she is still active and even has the audacity to complain that the guys she was seeing were asking her to quit shows me that she is purposefully staying in denial. There is no easy path to what she wants. Her past will haunt her for the rest of her life- but there may come a day where she will fade into obscurity and she can have the chance at a normal life. Unfortunately, the start of that journey will have to start with her divorcing herself from the public eye- and losing her primary form of income. That has to be her choice however. Until that day- she has absolutely no shot. While I can empathize with her, I cannot find it in my heart to actually care all that much. She made a deal with the devil and now he’s here to collect.
