The hotel looks great but a bit dated/tired/needs a refresher. The food looked fantastic. $350/night is on point. Anything more than that is too high.

Flats are the cheapest and old fashioned, but yeah they're a lot of work if you're putting them on yourself (faster if someone else is putting them on). They are good though if you're just after the bulky feel. I highly recommend looking into cloth pocket diapers, where the absorbancy and shell are separate things. There's a third common style which is All-In-One, but it's not my favorite just because everything is one unit so if anything goes wrong it's all done and it takes longer to dry. There's also a separate dimension which is what your cloth is made of. Different fabric types have different absorption rates and capacities, like cotton/birdseye/flannel/bamboo/zorb/hemp/jersey. Often you might want to mix them so you get the best of both. When it comes to care of your cloth, it's really not any different from infant cloth diapers so there's a huge wealth of knowledge already out there that's easy to find.

the competitions are very tough, looking back when I was going to almost every event in my country and being friends with the top cosplayers, they all had the struggle of making something that would be a favourite to them, to their skill level, and also be something the judges would like. Often times they got no placement because someone brought out some monte cristo outfit and went crazy with details, or had some big robotic build. the problem is that it is too subjective, just like how it is with art in general, and the contestants also matter. I had friends quitting cosplaying simply because there were 3-4 people constantly dominating every contest at the same time and they just felt disheartened. I only entered one cosplay contest and never again; that was enough of a discouragement to me,I knew if I tried again and again it would take away the fun of cosplay for me. I hope you get placed next time though! I love your works and it really is unfortunate that you got no placement twice in a row :(
