I have a study buddy. He’s pretty quiet and can honestly come off kind of mean if you don’t know how he communicates. Point is: he’s not the compliment type. He’s not emotionless or anything, but probably one of the more stoic people I’ve ever met. Anyways I’ve never seen him as anything but a very reliable study buddy. Anytime I can’t focus; “Yo, [wattpad boy] meet me at container park? Can we go over the chem notes?” And boom, he’s there. Thinking back, he’s never once turned down a study meetup. So let’s set the scene: I just came back from a really, really shitty date. The guy didn’t have anything in common with me, and was not only super sexual, but downright harassing me for answering texts from my grandparents that he said was ok It was about, 4pm? So I decided to call wattpad boy to study, and he told me to just meet him where he was at. He was at a boba place next to the library with some friends. Since he was with friends, I decided not to change out of my dress or take off any of my makeup, I just put on some longer socks, a hoodie and comfier shoes (it was getting colder) and headed over. On my way I got stuck in traffic and called him to let him know, and he said it was fine but that his friends were gonna dip since they wanted to catch dinner with some parents. Cool, whatever, kinda overdressed but it’s not bad with the hoodie, right? I show up, and as I walk in I swear it was straight out of some fan service k-drama bullshit. He was hunched over watching something on his phone. I’ve never seen Watty Boy as anything except a chill friend, I mean I was incapable of seeing him any other way. But that place was empty, and warm, and as soon as the air hit my cheeks and I saw him sitting at the table with his dumb baggy shorts and fresh haircut, it was over for me. As I walked up there was a cup of boba on the table, and without even looking up from the show he was watching he scoots it over to me (blended thai tea with tapioca… my fucking favorite bro.) and he just continues to chew on his hoodie strings. Remember how I said he was pretty chill and wasn’t really the compliment type? Yeah remember that? I’m sitting there, having the strangest feeling of seeing a strict bro become very much not a bro and he looks up from his phone only to basically drop his face. You know how some people can move their ears back? His whole face opened so much his ears moved back. That is an emotion I cannot explain to you. His jaw basically went slack. Idk man. It was so obvious I didn’t know what to say or how to start a conversation. We just stared at each other in shock and confusion. Then he leans back, and says, “[my name]?” And I’m blinking there dumb, so I say, “[watty boy]?” back and he instantly smiles, kind of chuckles and says, “Damn, [my name]. You look…” (he looks between both of my eyes) “-you look stunning.” bruh I was out. from the moment I walked in, something felt different and everything he just said on top of my shitty date it was almost instant how quickly I realized, this dude. this one. this fool. that’s the one I want. I want, that one. I was too surprised to even smile, so I just told him to shut up, but that whole study session was tense as hell, on both sides. He asked why I was so done up and I told him about my ass-backwards date. i’d catch him looking at me and his foot sat right next to mine underneath the table. I felt like I was 14 again. Man after being such hardcore buds for so long, it was so strange seeing him romantically like that. I did my best to put in how that whole memory felt but honestly all of it felt so fast and stressful it was crazy. Right now we’re still talking how we always do, but a little more frequently. I can feel something different. Wish me luck ^^
