Satan takes control of every mind that is not placed squarely under the control of the Spirit of God. All the works of Satan are motivated by a special delight and pleasure in all those things which God despises. Therefore, the whole existence of the devil is oriented and developed against God and implicitly against the crown of His creation which is man. Since the suggestions and propositions of the devil seek unceasingly to affect us and turn us away from our trust in God, our only possibility of safety is to pay no attention to him. He transforms himself into an angel of light in order to accomplish his plans in such a way that we fail to discern his strategies. The more wavering we are, the more effective will be Satan's misleading influences upon us.Engaging in discussions and negotiations with him is dangerous. With every concession we make to him, the enemy will demand more. Our only possibility of being safe is to reject it promptly, even at the first temptation to disobedience. Through the merits of Christ, God has given us enough grace to resist Satan and be more than conquerors. Resistance means success. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4.
