Also, after only a year of speaking English, he lost any trace of his accent. And that was with him really only consistently speaking it from age 10 and on. Add to that the fact that prior to leaving Cher Ukrainian orphanage, she likely experienced very little language development. Many, especially disabled children, were rarely if ever held aside from bathing and being moved and even less verbal interaction or stimulation, often fed with a propped bottle and left confined to a crib or tied to a potty chair for most of their day. So moving to the US initially would have kickstarted her language development, and in English. She likely wouldn’t have had an accent to really get rid of with only basic Russian or Ukrainian words to communicate, if any at all. My husband lost his accent within 6 months of living in the sates, immersed in only English as Natalia was. So that excuse of theirs is complete trash.

Everybody has something unique about them.
