To nobody’s surprise, Cruz’s music is a raging embodiment of these sentiments, and appropriately hits like a fucking steam train. Doing without a number of the melodious, post-punk-like, or broodier elements of his musicianship as displayed in his past Socialites EPs (https://socialites.bandcamp.com/track/who-are-you), Cruz has dedicated his energy towards making sure his music is fast, menacing, and of course, genuinely pissed. It honestly speaks for itself: it’s straight-up punk rock that’s got a hellacious bite to it, being absolutely riddled with ferocious howls from Cruz’s blown-out vocals, numbingly-buzzy guitar riffs, expressive basslines, and pummeling drumbeats from an actual drumset—that’s right, none of that baby-waby drum machine stuff to be found here, unlike his other material. I mean, what else is there to say? The word “cathartic” would barely begin to describe how much this EP kills, and honestly hit me a hell of a lot harder than the majority of hardcore bands do these days. Cruz seriously outdid himself with this one, and only further cements my belief that Cruz is a goddamn genius—no matter how much he insists that the Green Ranger is a girl. Seriously, the Green Ranger is totally a dude, where the fuck is he getting that information from?
