So I had plantar fasciitis start in my right foot at the end of 2019 and threaten to start in the other after that and I had to stop working completely about 1.5 years later because of persistent chronic pain in my foot/ankle area which was coupled with the onset of full body chronic pain caused by hEDS. I'm starting to get some extra energy back, as in just a bit more than enough to do my basic daily needs--the fatigue is real--after taking the last 2 years off to grapple with how my disability has affected my life and how to work around it and the like. The disability money isn't enough to be able to save any money or create any sort of cushion so I'm looking to use my extra energy in a really part-time service job; I used to work in kitchens but I don't think I could commit to that workload again so I'm heavily leaning towards either waitressing or cleaning. The only problem is I can only wear crocs (I just have a traditional pair) because any other type of shoe overheats my feet immediately. I typically wear them barefoot too. Cold helps numb and relieve my excess foot pain; I can stand in rivers or get blasted in the feet by ice water or just wear them in winter and it feels great. But conversely, heat is the worst thing ever for my foot pain and really really ramps it up. I really wanna make the right decision with what pair of work crocs I try and get but I'm a bit torn on what's available and hoping I can get your opinion. I'm leaning heavily towards the Bistro Pro Literide crocs because of the super cushy sole you were gushing about in the video; it seems like it would really appease my feet. However I'm worried about the lack of ventilation in those ones as compared to the Specialist II Vent Croc. But the issue with the Specialist II is that it lacks the non-slip feature that I'm sure would be necessary in any restaurant or pub setting, plus it doesn't have the extra cushy footbed. However that could also mean it would last longer; do you think the literide footbed would run its lifespan relatively quickly (2 years or less of consistent use)? Assuming the ventilation holes in the sides aren't prohibited by the place I end up at, I'm thinking of just carving them out of the indented areas in the Bistro Pro Literide to keep the ventilation going so that I can actually get through those few hours of working with minimal pain lol. Sorry I know this is a lot but I wanted to provide as specific of information as possible just to ask, what's your opinion on this? Is the sole worth the lack of ventilation? Thoughts on the only croc with an adjustable heel strap(the Bistro)? If I get the Bistro croc and decide to keep it and violate it by cutting holes into it, would that be the best option, or do you think it would mess up the structural integrity of the croc too much if I did that? I also read a review where someone said the side ventilation holes without the front or top ones made their feet superheat faster than if there weren't any ventilation holes at all, which was worrisome, but there was only one review like that while multiple others praised the side holes for the relief their feet got from the heat. Thanks in advance if you do get back to me with your thoughts on this :) peace
