I recently stayed at Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville this past November 2022. The water at the beach was murky because of all the rain they had days prior. Our driver told us this is typical. The food was not that great except for the French restaurant which was absolutely amazing. The pools are beautiful and very clean. The entertainment was good too especially at the pool. The rooms need serious updating and cleaning. We had to change rooms because the jet tub was dirty and had a huge dead insect in it. The tv didn't work. The safe didn't work. The toilet didn't flush. Needless to say, it was stressful but when they changed our room it was better. Still in all they should consider an overall update in the rooms. Some guests were even saying that there were leaks in the ceiling of their rooms. Dirty jet tub. Jet tub wouldn't fill properly. All kinds of complaints. And be aware that this is NOT located in Punta Cana. It is about an hour and a half away from the Punta Cana airport. So make sure to get a transfer to and from the hotel or you'll need a private taxi which charges $130 USD one way, CASH ONLY. The transfer from the hotel itself is $130 USD round trip. And forget about room service. Total waste of time. I asked for an assorted bread basket and fruit with coffee and tea. They brought us 4 slices of toast. No butter. No jam. No milk or sugar for our drinks. And the fruit was just pineapple and melon. SUPER basic menu for room service. Also be aware because they did not tell us this, everything you need from concierge, maintenance, housekeeping or room service needs to be requested via their App. So you must download their App in order to ask for any of these things. Don't expect to call the front desk for help or have a physical menu for room service. I happened to be awake late night and came across it on the App. Wish they would have told us that upon check-in. I can't even blame it on the language barrier because I speak both english and spanish perfectly. I definetely would NOT consider this a luxury or 5 star resort.
