Wow where do I start?? This video has it about 50% right but definitely definitely more actual research and facts need to be gathered!! You see, I am a 35 year old ex Amish woman with a husband and 7 children!! You were right for the most part about big families!! But I was Amish for 34 years and know hardly anyone who gave birth at home and most certainly not me!! I gave birth 7 times and always in a regular hospital and with epidural n any pain medication available!! In fact home births were highly uncommon n only happened if the mom didn't make it to the hospital fast enough!! Also I did take birth control between a couple of my kids...that is usually up to each individual but it's not something that most would go blabbing about. As far as the wedding dress goes yes they are mostly blue and homemade, though not always made by the bride herself...my mother in law made mine. And I've never heard anything about having to wear your wedding dress to church and to get buried in. You were allowed to wear it to church but it was by far not required and we all had lots of dresses in different colors that we wore...we had to be buried in a black dress with white cape and apron and head covering...that's how it was always done...sometimes babies or really young children were buried in a white gown...also the running around thing we did wasn't set for any specific length of time and started at 16-17 years of age...then it was up to each individual when they would settle down...and It also isn't required that women walk behind her husband...and i know lots n lots of women that drive horse n buggies they are actually encouraged to drive so they drive less with a taxi driver...there is no such rule...another thing is that my dad loves to cook and bake he taught me just about everything i know about it and to this day I'll ask him for cooking advice before I'll ask my mom cuz he does all the cooking!! Yes we are a little more submissive for the most part but we were valued n respected n well cared for!! It really wasn't how this video makes it seem!! Like it was a bad thing or like we had no rights or freedom...that being said there is sadly some truth to what you've shared...that's a big reason why we left...it's way to long a story.
